To help promote education, energy insight and support for the community, we have partnerships in place. And in 2017, we’ve already been able to make a real difference, by working with this community group.

GWS Giants Care Program

GIANTS Care is an innovative, meaningful community initiative – unlike any other program run by a sporting club in Australia. And we’re proud to be one of the foundation partners.

The initiative sees the GWS Giants deliver on the four pillars of Health, Harmony, Education and Employment – making a real difference to communities that need them most.

More than 12,000 people were engaged in GIANTS community programs in 2014 – and thanks to GIANTS Care, it’s a figure that’s set to double over the next three years.

Little BIG idea 2017

littleBIGidea is now open for all Aussie kids in Years 3—8. This is the fourth year for our competition. Could 2017 be the year YOUR idea changes the world?

LITTLE BIG IDEA

What do the black box flight recorder, the bionic ear, and Wi-Fi hotspots all have in common? They’re all some of the greatest inventions of our time – and they were all developed right here in Australia.

Our kids come up with amazing ideas too. Over the years, they’ve invented brilliant things like the trampoline, icy poles and ear muffs.

So to unearth the next generation of young inventors, we started the littleBIGidea competition. It was designed to inspire creativity in children in years 3-8 – and encourage students to come up with a new invention, an improvement to something already existing, or a clever idea that helps make the world around us a better place.

With three major prizes across each category (grades 3-4, grades 5-6 and years 7-8) of a trip to NASA Kennedy Space Centre, there’s a big incentive for teachers, parents and children to get involved. And a chance to create an invention we could all be using for years to come.

Community programs

Education is very important to us, so we’re always looking for ways to promote participation and learning.

Energy for schools

We love to talk about energy so we think it’s important to help people become energy-aware. With our knowledge and years of experience, it makes sense that we take the lead to educate our kids on energy.

Road safety

Alongside community members and the RACQ, we’ve helped to tackle road safety. Our Caring About Road Safety (CARS) program designed to equip young drivers with strategies to reduce the risk of being involved in road incidents has helped 1500 young drivers.
