Concession and rebate eligibility

You may be eligible for a concession or rebate on your bill if you're the primary account holder on your energy account and you hold a valid concession card.

You can add your concession details to your account details in My Account – we step you through it on the Concessions details

Who may be eligible Valid concession card holders. This rebate only applies to electricity, gas and water supplied to your primary residence.
Rebate value
  • $700 (excl GST) / $770 (incl GST) per year, from 2019–2020
  • OR 89.15c (excl GST) / 98.10c (incl GST) per day from 1 November to 31 May (Summer)
  • AND $3.34 (excl GST) / $3.64 (incl GST) per day from 1 June to 31 October (Winter)
Applicable energy type This concession appears on your electricity bill but helps with your electricity, gas and water bills.

  • OR $3.29 (excl GST) / $3.62 (incl GST) per day

How to apply

To register for the Home Haemodialysis Rebate, you need to show:

  • You’re the registered owner or joint owner of the property.
  • The person receiving treatment, if that isn’t you, lives with you.

You also require a letter from a medical practitioner or professional confirming you are:

  • Receiving treatment from a home dialysis machine; or
  • The parent or guardian of a person receiving treatment from a home dialysis machine.

If you’re eligible for the Home Haemodialysis rebate, you’re also eligible for the Life Support Rebate.

On supply Embedded Network Customers are not eligible for any concessions right now.

To check if that’s you, look for your NMI number on the second page of your bill – if it starts with "EN" you may be in an Embedded Network. You can also confirm this at the NSW Government Service website.

If you receive the Low Income Household Rebate, the Family Energy Rebate is capped at $20 (excl GST) / $22 (incl GST).

EAPA vouchers are distributed to electricity and gas customers by a range of community welfare organisations (CWO).

Who may be eligible The Home Emergency Assistance Scheme helps low-income households pay their current electricity or natural gas bill when they face a short-term financial crisis or an unforeseen emergency.
Rebate value One-off payments of up to $720 to use towards you electricity or natural gas accounts, once every 2 years.

Who may be eligible

Valid concession cardholders who:

  • Rely on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), firewood (special conditions apply) or heating oil for domestic heating, cooking or hot water, or
  • Access non-mains electricity via an embedded network, or
  • Rely on a generator
Rebate amount

The amount of this rebate depends on the annual cost of each non-mains energy source.

All non-mains energy costs are covered from 1 January to 31 December each year.

This rebate is paid by the Department of Human Services.

Who may be eligible

Valid concession cardholders who don’t use a lot of electricity. If your supply charge is more than your usage charges, you could get a rebate on your electricity bill.

Rebate value

If the electricity use on a bill is lower than the service charge, the service charge is reduced to the cost of the electricity used.

The concession is based on your usage cost before any solar credits are deducted.

Who may be eligible

Valid concession card holders using an electrically-operated life support machine.

Rebate value

The Life Support Concession can give you a rebate on your electricity bills, equal to the cost of 1,880 kWh of electricity per year. The rebate is calculated using the general domestic tariff of your retailer.

This rebate is paid quarterly.

The Utility Relief Grant Scheme (URGS) helps low-income households who can’t pay their utility account.

Up to $500 toward your electricity account, and up to $500 toward your natural gas gas account, once in a 2 year period.

The Hardship Utility Relief Grant Scheme (HUGS) assists WA utility customers who are in financial hardship and are unable to pay their utility account.
